Who will burn to death in Emmerdale?

THERE’S never a dull moment in soapland, is there?
We’ve hardly had time to catch our breath since the Hollyoaks fire, Corrie tram crash and EastEnders cot death, but now here comes yet another disaster which will see off two characters.
A fire breaks out in Emmerdale on Thursday which will devastate the village. It’s not just a case of mourning for lost loved ones, but it will also be a place of recrimination as neighbours accuse each other of being the mystery arsonist.
Personally I’d start the blame with the less-than-ideal festive council bin collection service, which appears to be no better in Emmerdale than the rest of the country.
When Zak leaves a load of rubbish outside Victoria Cottage, a shadowy figure sets fire to the bin with petrol.
An inferno soon takes hold and spreads to nearby houses. Andy, Carl, Ashley and Ryan try to beat back the flames, but Katie, Gennie and Chas are trapped inside the cottage.
Meanwhile Betty collapses on the sofa in Keeper’s Cottage, overcome with smoke. Brenda and Terry are caught up in the fire as it rages through the B&B and a drunken, comatose Viv is trapped in the flat above the shop. Victoria finds it hard to run, as she’s frozen with fear and memories of her mum’s death in another fire.
Any of these residents could meet their maker. The smart money is on Viv to be one of the victims as we know she’s leaving, but that could always be a red herring.
And who is the mystery arsonist? Andy Sugden is a hero as he dives into Victoria Cottage in a bid to save Katie, but she has made him angry by telling him they will never get back together. He can’t save everyone and it won’t be long before fingers start pointing in his direction. Then again, Carl returned, vowing to get even with Chas...
Incidentally, while it looks hot on screen, the cast braved sub-zero conditions and heavy snow to film the exciting episodes until 4am.
Elsewhere this week, Maisie admits she doesn’t love Nikhil and calls off the wedding. She decides the best thing to do is leave the village completely with Will. Quite right, too. If you stay you might burn to death.
