'EastEnders' star Derek Martin has said that he is "glad" that his co-star Gillian Wright has been given a comeback storyline.
According to the News of the World, the actor, who plays Charlie Slater in the soap, said that he was shocked when he initially heard that the actress, who plays Jean Slater, would be departing Albert Square.
Martin said: "Everyone is good in their own right - but Gillian Wright is amazing."
"When they said she was leaving, I thought they were mad. I'm glad they changed their minds."
