Coronation Street bosses send Kym Marsh on early maternity leave due to flu fears for her unborn baby's health

Kym Marsh has been allowed to begin maternity leave from Coronation Street early as she battles flu ahead of her baby's birth in April.
The actress, who plays Michelle Connor in the soap, is at home fighting the illness, and programme bosses did not hesitate to allow her time off.
The 34-year-old is expecting a baby with fiancé Jamie Lomas, 30.

The couple were left devastated when their son Archie died moments after his premature birth in February 2009.

Marsh took to Twitter to thank fans for their good wishes as she fights the illness.
'Thank you so much for all your get well messages. Feeling a little better today,' she told followers.
A Coronation Street spokesman confirmed Marsh had been allowed to start her leave earlier than usual given the circumstances of her previous pregnancy.

The Corrie star showed off her burgeoning bump in November when she and Jamie attended a Unicef charity gala at Manchester's Old Trafford, their last public outing together.
She wore a stunning long purple dress which showed her burgeoning baby bump.
The mother-of-two announced in October that she was expecting again.
Marsh has two other children - David, 15, and Emily, 13 - from a previous relationship with Dave Cunliffe.
The former Hear'say star, who found fame on reality TV show Popstars, she made her debut on the Weatherfirld cobbles in April 2006.
She's since become one of the long-running
soap's best-loved characters.
