EastEnders' stars join the battle for good and evil

The age old battle between good and evil involving two former players in TV's EastEnders will be fought out on two of the West Country's most important theatre spaces over the Christmas and New Year holidays.
In the good corner at the
Bristol Hippodrome is Fairy Bowbells played by Barbara Windsor in a revival of the Dick Whittington story.
In the baddies' corner is another former EastEnders star
Ricky Groves who is being boohed and hissed at on stage at the Theatre Royal Bath as he plays Abanaza in the much loved Aladdin story.
Both shows offer two very different sorts of pantomime but there are a host of other shows for all the family taking place in and around Bath during the holiday season.

The big show for Bath as ususual is Aladdin at the newly restored Theatre Royal Bath starring Ricky from EastEnders and Strictly Come Dancing who is joined by Gemma Hunt, Jon Monie and Chris Harris as the dame. As usual the show also features young people from the Dorothy Coleborn School of Dance.
The pantomime runs until January 23. Tickets are on 01225 448844.
This Christmas, the egg theatre brings to life the much-loved classic,
Alice Through the Looking Glass, in a thrilling new stage production for family audiences which you can see until January 9. West End actress Louise Plowright stars as the Red Queen alongside Alexis Terry as Alice.
On her quest to become a queen Alice encounters many memorable characters, including the Red Queen, talking flowers, Humpty Dumpty and Tweedledum and Tweedledee.
But in the giant chessboard she is following, is she going forwards or backwards and who is she really?
Alice Through The Looking Glass is a music-filled, romp through the nonsensical world beyond the looking glass.
Audiences at the egg can look forward to a mad-cap adventure bursting with comedy, adapted for the stage by
Hattie Naylor from Lewis Carroll's original.
Tickets also on 01225 448844.
Looking a bit ahead once again, Bath Drama returns to the Rondo Theatre in January with its perennially popular panto. This year it's
Robin Hood And His Merry Men and direction is in the experienced hands of John Pamplin, who made such a spectacular success of Ring Round the Moon earlier this year. John is well supported by musical director Vaughn Hill.
The cast is a blend of familiar and new faces. Bath Drama favourites include Steve Huggins who revels in the role of the slimy Sheriff of
Nottingham, and Carina Baverstock who is in fine thigh-slapping form as Robin Hood. Fresh blood is represented by Adam Rodgers as the villainous Prince John, and Rachel Hodson as the demure but plucky Maid Marion.
Add to this Daisy the mischievous pantomime cow, some highly risky on stage archery practice, and an outbreak of cross dressing amongst the Merry Men and you have a sure fire recipe for success.
The show takes place at the Rondo from Wednesday Saturday January 12 to 15 with a 7.30pm start, with matinees on the Saturday and Sunday starting at 2.30pm. Tickets are priced at £9 /£6 and are available from The Bath Festivals box office in Abbey Green on 01225 463362.
An exciting new adaptation of the Brothers Grimm classic fairy tale The Elves and the Shoemakers produced by Pins and Needles Productions will play at The Brewery Theatre in Bristol until January 9.
The Tobacco Factory's Christmas shows have become a well-loved institution, and The Elves and the Shoemakers will be the first Christmas show in their new space The Brewery.
Snook's Shoe Shop has fallen on hard times. Mr and Mrs Snookmeyer have only enough leather for one last pair of shoes.
They're going to need a Christmas miracle to save their business. When midnight strikes, help arrives in the form of two mischievous elves with an unsurpassed talent for shoemaking. Go and join the fun this festive season and help the elves with their magical work.
Tickets to see The Elves and the Shoemakers at The Brewery are available from the box office at 0117 902 0344 or online at
http://www.tobaccofactorytheatre.com/.
Barbara Windsor from the Carry On films and more recently from EastEnders is the star of the show at
Bristol Hippodrome where she is appearing in the story of Dick Whittington which runs until January 9.
The fabulous tale of Dick Whittington is brought to life on stage in a brand new glittering production starring the legendary Barbara as Fairy Bowbells.
Also on stage will be the star of last year's show Andy Ford who returns to the Hippodrome with his madcap comedy as Idle Jack while Coronation Street Eric Potts will be donning some fantastic frocks as Sarah the Cook.
Tickets are on 084 484 72325.
